Hi Rich

How do you post photos and embed them in the post? You clearly have cracked it?

Hiya Paul ,
and welcome to the NRAS ,...

There is a help page that tells you exactly how to do it , it involves joining image shack (you might be able to do it from another supplier).
You can get a free image shack account on the link above .

This is from the help pages here

Quote:
To post an image from your computer:

There is no way to upload an image to the forums directly. To host an image you will need to use a free hosting site. We recommend that you use a site called ImageShack. To post a picture in a thread, follow these steps:

1. Go to ImageShack. Do not alter any of the visible options, leave them at their default, and click the Browse button, go to where you've stored the image, and click on it, select Open, and click then 'Host it' button. Wait for a while and the image will be uploaded to Imageshack.

2. Once ImageShack has finished uploading you will see a results screen. Carefully highlight all the text in the Thumbnail for forums (1). Right-click and select Copy, or press CTRL+C to copy the entire link.

3. Now simply paste this link directly into the post where you want it to be displayed. Do not alter the code in any way, do not add any code, page breaks etc. to it. To see if it looks right, before submitting the post, click the 'Preview Post' button (go to Advanced mode if necessary) and you will see if it looks right or not. What you should see is a small thumbnail version of your image which, when clicked upon, opens a new window with the full-sized version.

N.B. Please make sure that you don't post lots of images in a row as this can skew thread width and then make it hard to read the thread. Even when posting clickable thumbnails, do not post more than 5 in a row, as this will typically skew thread appearance. Also, do not post dozens of images in one post, regardless of their size, as this can impact on thread loading times for users.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks Rich,

I looked at the help - obviously not very well!! :)

It looks like we have a common hobby. How do you find lugging a camera around on shoulder joints and hands?

I use a digital SLR and a bum bag case that puts the weight on my hips. Works very well

Hi Anne .. give it a go it is easy once you get used to it .

Hi Paul ... well I have only had a DSLR (Pentax K5) for a little over a year.. some days especially cold ones i struggle , but it is OK if i use auto focus and aperture priority, but i suffer for it afterwards . I wear those finger-tip-less gloves ,

I have a small lowepro case which i put in a back pack unzipped , and this seems to work well. Due to limited mobility and the cost of Transport (i am on ESA and savings have gone ) I mainly shoot Gravesend , but am 200yrds from the Town Centre and 400 yrds from the Thames . I did my own Gravesend website to keep me sane ;) on days i have limited mobility/fatigue.

www.richcimages.co.uk ... a lot of pics are there to show an area rather than for photographic merit. It has also given me other transferable skills when I am ready to re engage with employment. I can recommend it to anyone and is very cheap to start.

Rich is right Anne, it's a doddle using image shack. When you have uploaded your image, choose the option to go to the links page, and then copy the 'Direct URL'

Back here, hit the picture icon in the toolbar above the post and when it enters the text "[img][img]" insert the URL between teh two central brackets "][" and Robert is your father's brother.
